You’re invited to team up with the Toronto Blue Jays team charity to launch an award-winning inclusion-focused extracurricular program across schools in your district!
Jays Care Foundation is looking for teammates as we build a roster of dedicated educators across Canada who are committed to making a meaningful impact in their students' lives. We’ve heard from educators that they have been seeing increased numbers of students facing barriers during this pandemic and are seeking ways to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in their classrooms. Today, we would like to extend the exclusive invitation to schools across your district to become a Jays Care Affiliate School and launch an award-winning Blue Jays extracurricular program.
Interested in joining our roster? Here’s how easy it is to get started:
Step 1) Educators apply to be a Jays Care Affiliate School here
Step 2) Join us for a virtual training session to learn how to make the program a success
Step 3) Find at least 10 students interested in participating in introductory softball/baseball programming and who fit into our priority groups:
Girls
Children and youth living with disabilities
Indigenous children and youth
Step 4) Commit to at least 2 hours of extracurricular programming per week for a minimum of 8 weeks
When a school becomes a Jays Care Affiliate School, educators and students become a part of our Blue Jays community and we help you celebrate your students like big leaguers! Here’s what Jays Care Foundation will provide at zero cost:
Blue Jays t-shirts and hats for all athletes
Specialized Blue Jays equipment kit
Best-in-class program manual and educator resources
Blue Jays certificates for every participant
Exclusive Blue Jays opportunities to celebrate students, if eligible (Rogers Centre suite visit, a virtual player visit, first pitch before Blue Jays game, etc.)
A welcome video for your school from a Blue Jays alumni or player or national softball or baseball player
As an additional opportunity for those working with students living with disabilities, we are excited to bring an exclusive Blue Jays experience (virtually) to schools in your district! Toronto Blue Jays Training Camp is a dynamic virtual visit from our award-winning program staff where they lead classrooms through fun and engaging activities, meant to inspire and celebrate youth of all abilities. Educators require NO previous baseball or softball experience to run our extracurricular programs, as we provide everything you need to bring meaningful sport-for-development opportunities to the youth in your school district.
